Have you ever asked yourself the reason why you chose your first dog? Do you know why your neighbor loves to have big dogs while you are just fond of small little things? How did you know exactly what was your perfect dog when you were choosing between hundreds of them in the shelters?

Turns out there is a relation between your dog’s breed and yourself, the type of dog you pick can reveal a lot about your personality.

Labrador Retriever

They are the most popular breed in the United States according to the American Kennel Club. Labrador Retrievers are loving, loyal, and lots of fun to be around for people of all ages. If you are a Lab’s owner, whether you are a man or a woman, you tend to be loving, loyal, charming, and agreeable to spend time with.

You appreciate the little things in life, and you don’t let anything bring you down. You have an inviting personality, and people feel safe when they are with you. You enjoy life, and you are always the one who fulfills it the most. You know that the past is already history, and no one knows what the future holds, so you value all you have for today.

German Shepherd

They are “a true dog lover’s dog”, said American Kennel Club. German Shepherds are intelligent, brave, but also a little challenging. Owning one of them says that you don’t run away from obstacles and that you understand hard work is the key. That’s why you are reliable, trustworthy, and people consistently count on you.

You always act with a purpose, because just like your tenacious and focused dog, you know what it needs to get the job done. You are the one everybody knows will take the charge, but that doesn’t mean people take advantage of you. You are like the leader of the pack, and the protector of the family, people are loyal and grateful towards you.

Similar to people who own labradors, golden retriever owners are friendly, active, and as outgoing as can be. You can get along with all types of people, and you are always excited to meet someone new, as open-minded as you are. You want to surround yourself with families, friends, and you would do anything for them.

You are confident, and not hesitate to take over the situation when needed. You are also organized, and usually have a plan B just in case. That’s why people turn to you first whenever they have a problem, and you don’t mind giving them a hand at all.

Bulldog

While they appear intimidating, bulldogs are gentle and loving members of the family. People who own bulldogs are charming, easy to make friends with, and tend to open up about yourself. You could be viewed as stubborn at times, but deep down you are a kind-hearted person.

It’s never hard for you to talk to strangers or even befriend them. Whether with the woman at a bus stop, or a receptionist while waiting for check-in, or just an old friend whom you run into. That’s because you’ve got a great sense of humor, and always are a pleasure to be around.

French Bulldog

Originally bred to be companion dogs (cf. Dog Time), French bulldogs are people dogs and their owners definitely are social people. You are a yes person, and never say no to new experiences. You think freely, and like to go with the flow, because for you, we don’t live twice.

With the Frenchie at your company, there is always something to keep you occupied. That’s why you don’t mind if things don’t go according to the plan. But you also question everything you’ve encountered which makes you curious about your surroundings. You are open-minded, and rational, with an easy-going attitude.

Pugs

Not like french bulldog owners, if you have a pug, chances are that you don’t get accompanied that often. However, the American Kennel Club says that pugs are full of personality, so “like dog like owner”. You know how to keep people around you entertained with your natural-born sense of humor.

You don’t like people to tell you what to do, because you love to think outside of the box. People sometimes find you headstrong, but they understand that’s just the way you are. Plus, you are also charming and clever, and people who live with you always feel cheerful for that.

Corgi

The American Kennel Club claims Corgis to be strong, athletic, and affectionate without being needy. If you are owing a corgi, congratulations on knowing how to have fun either alone or being with others.

Corgi lovers tend to be extroverts and love getting attention from the crowd. They can also be chatty, and never stop talking about what they care about. They love being the center of the universe, which can make them stubborn sometimes.

Chihuahua

Chihuahua’s owner has a big personality and can be a bit bossy, you just can’t help it. You could get really defensive when someone hurts your feelings, but that’s only your bad side.

You are always full of energy, might be a little loud when moving, but that’s a part of your charm. You are brave and ready to stand up for yourself, you won’t back down from any kind of challenges whatsoever.

Pitbull

Pitbull owners enjoy being around children and make excellent parents and grandparents. You are gentle when it needs to be, and you don’t quickly judge people on their appearances. You know how to control the situation, and to deal with uncomfortable social conversations.

You are tough on the outside, but a marshmallow on the inside. You might go further to protect what you believe, even going harsh on others, but you are always a softball around those who you love.

Huskies are some of the best athletes in the canine world. Both huskies and their owners like to be outside, to go on an adventure, or just simply to enjoy the weather. If you have a husky, you were born a leader, with strong and deterministic personalities. Being active is your thing because you don’t accept to be regarded as a couch potato.

You love sports, and you can’t merely miss a football night or a basketball college match. Owners of huskies also tend to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and outdoor activities. Thanks to those outgoing qualities, you are well-received everywhere you go.
